°µÍøÁÔÆæ Accepts Independent Report on Provincial History Course
On Wednesday evening, the °µÍøÁÔÆæ Council of Commissioners accepted the independent History Experts Committee report on the revised Secondary III and IV compulsory History of Québec and Canada program.
The revised curriculum raised a number of issues of concern to the °µÍøÁÔÆæ (°µÍøÁÔÆæ) Council of Commissioners. Given these concerns, in June, the °µÍøÁÔÆæ asked an independent History Experts Committee to review the content of this program as well as the Ministry-approved English-language textbooks.
“I hope that the work that has been done by our school board and the independent committee of experts will help guide the provincial government to make the appropriate changes to the program,” said °µÍøÁÔÆæ Chairman Angela Mancini. “It is important that our students understand and appreciate the diverse and rich history of our province.”
